Model Boat BP Oil Tanker British Explorer Ready For Remote Control All Wood. My grandad worked for BP oil as a lorry driver for a few years after his time in the RAF.

He became friends with George King, the managing director at the time. After his retirement he decided to make a model of the tanker "British Explorer" as a reminder of his time there. Enclosed with this model are some letters from George King to my grandad talking about the model and their time at the company. There are a few photos of the boat and some plans that my grandad hand copied from original engineering drawings of the real thing.

The model is very detailed and a good size at approximately 42 inches long. The superstructure is removable to gain access to the hull for the fitting of motors and electronics. It is ready for remote control. This is a beautiful model with a historical connection to the company itself.

There is a great article on George King on Google if you search "George King BP". Ranging from small antique boats at 14 inch length up to roughly 55 inches.

There are tugs, sailing boats, galleons, barges, warships, paddle steamers, etc. They were built by my late grandfather who was ex RAF (Dambusters sqn) and a master craftsman. Sadly it's time to start clearing the collection as I can't possibly enjoy all the models at once, let alone store them!
